BCSSA Officials - Designated Disqualifying Official

The Designated Disqualifying Official (DDO) is responsible for informing the coach, swimmer or designate of a disqualification and the particulars of the infraction of a swimmer. The DDO gives the information only, and must refer coaches to the Referee if they have any questions about the disqualification.


Duties of the DDO:

  • Ensure all disqualification have been brought to the Referee for approval.
  • Inform the coach, swimmer or designate of the disqualification within 15 minutes of the infraction occurring.
  • Be very familiar with the rules.
  • Present the disqualification in a non-confrontational and sensitive manner.
